SUMMARY:Beginning Yoga For Seniors - Movement at the Museum
DESCRIPTION:The Rita Deanin Abbey Art Museum is excited to welcome Maureen Heher Karaffa to lead a gentle but invigorating Beginning Yoga Class for Seniors.  \nThis hour-long experience includes stretching and movement with a focus on the body\, mind and spirit. We will honor the body through the improvement of balance\, strength\, and flexibility; the mind by reducing anxiety and stress; and the spirit through the feelings of tranquility via practice. We encourage you to budget for extra time after the class to enjoy the museum galleries and gardens at your own pace. \nPlease bring a yoga mat\, blanket\, water bottle and any other blocks or supports you may need to feel comfortable. Please note we will also have chairs and are ready to accommodate movements for those who would prefer a seated experience. \nGet Tickets \nWe are thrilled to be working with Maureen Heher Karaffa\, a native Nevadan who has taught yoga and the healing arts in Las Vegas for over 4 decades!  A graduate of UNLV and the School of Natural Healing she is a licensed drugless practitioner and master herbalist . SUMMARY:A Time To Love - A Collaboration with the Asylum Theater
DESCRIPTION:A Time To Love\nPlease join us for an exclusive performance in collaboration with the Asylum Theater Company on Monday November 11\, 2024 from 3pm – 5pm. This staged reading of monologues from Cinco Veces Amor by Rafael Guizado will be performed by Jose Anthony with text in both English and Spanish. \n“The dramatization of conflict within the individual human mind is the oldest and most basic form of drama. The theatricalization of this conflict has a long and varied history in the literary and cultural traditions of Latin America.” Colombian dramatist Rafael Guizado reflected on the nature of love in his collection of short stories Cinco Veces Amor (1948). Two independent monologues from Cinco Veces Amor—one tragic\, one hopeful— combine into a tour de force for the actor.  \nThe performance will also be accompanied by live music\, Opus 121 by Johannes Brahms which was the German composer’s reflection on the nature of life’s cycle.  \nDirection and translation from Spanish (Colombia) to English by Gigi Guizado\nProduced by The Asylum Theatre for Solo Play Festival in partnership with ProEnglish Theatre and World of English Speaking Theatres (W.E.S.T.)
