Ekphrastic Poetry Workshop w/ Ms. AyeVee

August 8 @ 11:00 am1:00 pm

The Rita Deanin Abbey Art Museum is proud to partner with Clark County Poet Laureate AyeVee for a hands-on workshop inspired by the artwork and legacy of Rita Deanin Abbey. Open to participants of all skill levels ages 12 and up, this interactive experience invites guests to explore the connection between visual art and creative writing through the practice of ekphrastic poetry.

While ekphrastic poetry is often defined as poetry written in response to works of art, the ancient Greek concept of ekphrasis referred to the art of vivid description. Guided by AyeVee and inspired by Rita Deanin Abbey’s work, participants will discover new ways of seeing, reflecting, and expressing themselves through the written word.
