Who we are

The Rita Deanin Abbey Museum (the “Museum”) connects to the public (“user,” “visitor,” “you”) via: https://ritadeaninabbeymuseum.org (the “Website”), our mobile application (the “Service”), and social media. This App Privacy Policy (“Privacy Policy”) explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our services.

The information contained on the App is for general information purposes only. The museum shall not be responsible for errors or omissions in the contents and on the App. The Museum reserves the right to make additions, deletions, or modification to the contents on the App at any time without prior notice. This Privacy Policy does not apply to the third-party online/mobile store from which you install the App. We are not responsible for any of the data collected and/or used by any such third party.

No data is collected on the App. The App does not do any of the following:

  • Use or install cookies, web beacons, or other tracking technologies on users’ mobile devices
  • Share user data with any third parties, for any purposes not specifically listed in this Privacy Policy
  • Partner with any third-party vendors that would analyze and track users’ use of the App

Website

On the Website you may find a number of links to other websites or applications, in particular for the purposes of completion of mobile payments. Although these websites or applications are selected with care, we are not responsible for the processing of your personal data through these websites or applications. This Privacy Policy is therefore not applicable to the use of such websites or applications. Please consult the relevant third party’s privacy policy before providing your information.

As a user of the Website, we may send you marketing communications where we have consent to do so, or it is within our legitimate interests to do so. Further information about the marketing you will receive and the channels of communication it is delivered through (e.g. email), will be provided at the time communications commence.

For sending you marketing communications, we may process the personal data provided by you (including your name and e-mail address).

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Sharing our content through social media

If you choose to share the App or Website or any content through social media such as Facebook and/or Instagram, your personal data (such as your name and the fact that you are interested in the museum) will also be visible to all the visitors of your personal webpage Facebook and/or Instagram. On the use of such social media websites only the terms and conditions (including the privacy policy) of the social media website apply. The museum is not responsible for the processing of personal data or the privacy policy of such social media websites, and this Privacy Policy is therefore not applicable.

Social media interaction

When you communicate with us through our social media pages (for example, when you post a comment, upload media, send a personal message or like our photos), we may receive personal data about you (such as your (user) name, profile photo, your hometown, your email address and your gender). Read the terms of use and other statements from the applicable social media platform. Such terms of use and other statements may differ to this Privacy Policy.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
