Rita Deanin Abbey
Art Museum

A photo of Wall of Creation, a stained glass mural created by Rita Deanin Abbey. It is a half circle shape, rooted in the center by two thin, rounded doors with Hebrew letters. Above the doors are two hands holding a flaming heart. From the center and out, the piece fades from yellow to blue, mimicking the sun in the sky. The piece also has Hebrew letters on the bottom edges that curve with the piece. Finally, different shapes and swirls on the glass make the piece feel full.

Two of Rita Deanin Abbey’s murals are on permanent display at the museum. Her work in plexiglass murals diversified the hard-edge format, adapting it to new and unexpected curvilinear forms, using opaque plexiglass sheets instead of acrylic paint.
