The Architectural Experience

3 on display, 40 in series

The Gan Or Series or Architectural Experience are drawings that document and express personal fantasies and feelings concerning the experience of building a home and studio in the desert. Gan Or means “The Garden of Light” in Hebrew. The works combine imaginative architectural perspectives and the open space of desert landscapes.

Series Highlights

Drawing #23 of The Architectural Experience by Rita Deanin Abbey. A blue colored pencil background with visible strokes, interrupted at the top by a cloud encased in a light green rectangle. Underneath the rectangle is a thin, red line, which separates the sky from the building. A small section of blue rectangles divides the red line from the door of the building, which is an arched pathway down a long hallway leading to a window. The door sits on a red background, framed by a gray doorframe, with a black line cutting through it. A second, taller gray doorframe is slanted next to the main door, and leads to a room of blue lighter than the sky. This room has red lines forming 90 degree angles and a black 90 degree triangle.
