Albuquerque Revisited

5 on display, 23 in series

Throughout the years I have continued to work with various media in the area of painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking and since 1984, porcelain enamel fired on steel. My approach in all media has been to explore technical and compositional possibilities while focusing on the interactions of color, space, texture, line, contrast, and movement.

In 1987, I had several opportunities to return to Albuquerque to work as an artist in residence at Tamarind Institute, a division of the University of New Mexico where I had graduated in the 1950s. At Tamarind, I executed lithographs and the “Albuquerque Revisited: Monotypes on Paper” series. My creative process is experimental and intuitive. I feel greater freedom and sustained concentration of energy and achieve more spontaneous results creating monotypes in spite of the limitations of the printing process.
